At Seaton Sluice First School, our Geography curriculum aims to inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. To ensure a robust, knowledge-rich education, we follow the United Curriculum across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering a beautifully structured pathway that builds our pupils' global awareness and map-reading skills.
While we explore continental landscapes and global environments, we believe that geography starts right on our doorstep. We are incredibly fortunate to be situated in a rich coastal landscape, and we frequently make use of our surrounding area to bring the subject to life. Our children regularly participate in local fieldwork and educational walks, exploring the natural beauty of the Dene, our striking coastline, and the local harbour. By examining these diverse environments first-hand, our pupils can directly connect their classroom learning to the real world, developing a deep, practical understanding of both physical and human geography within their own community.
