At Seaton Sluice First School, we recognise that a high-quality Computing education is vital for helping children think logically, solve problems, and thrive in an increasingly digital world. To deliver a secure and expert-led curriculum, we follow the locally developed scheme by Northumberland County Council across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
This robust local framework guides our pupils through the key strands of computing: Computer Science (learning how technology works and coding simple programs), Information Technology (using digital tools to create, store, and present work), and Digital Literacy. Our lessons ensure that children develop practical, hands-on technical skills while building the digital confidence they need for middle school and beyond.
Crucially, E-Safety is embedded at the absolute heart of our computing curriculum. Using the Northumberland County Council guidelines, we teach our children how to navigate the online world responsibly, respectfully, and safely. Pupils regularly learn vital, age-appropriate digital citizenship skills—such as keeping personal information private, recognizing online risks, and knowing exactly how and when to report a concern to a trusted adult.
