Reading is a vital skill for children and one of our aims in Year 1 is to increase reading confidence and fluency.
Our Bug Club online reading system is perfect for supporting reading at home. Please ensure you read with your child every day and complete an entry in their reading record.
Excellent sites for practising phonics/reading through games are Phonics Play and Phonics Bloom. Get in touch via Class Dojo if you are unsure which phase your child is working on.
Mr T's Phonics videos may also help some children consolidate their learning.
Please find links to these sites below.
As a school we follow the White Rose Maths Small Steps. The National Oak Academy has provided free online lessons and activities to support your child's learning at home. Each lesson/activity is aligned to the National Curriculum for each year group. Although there are also lots of other great websites to support your child's mathematical development. See below for links.
We have also renewed our subscription to Education City, an online learning platform which enables your child to continue their learning and consolidate key skills in Maths, English and Science. We felt this was invaluable during lockdown and it was important to give children the opportunity to continue using it this year.
Appropriate activities have been added to each child's login to support their learning at home. Please message via Class Dojo if your child's login details have been misplaced.
