First Lego League Jnr

A team of pupils from Seaton Sluice First School attended The First Lego League Jnr Expo held at Sage UK’s headquarters in Gosforth last week.

FIRST Lego League is a programme run in the UK by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), with FIRST Lego League Jnr tournaments taking place across the UK and Ireland.

A total of 28 teams took part in the event, organised by North Tyneside Council’s Early Years and School Improvement Service.

The team of children have been putting their heads together to brainstorm solutions to the many challenges humans might face in trying to establish a base on the moon. As well as thinking of creative solutions, the team also had to build their own moon base and programmable Lego WeDo robot to carry out tasks on the base.

Alongside all the fun of "playing" with Lego, the team got the chance to practise valuable skills such as cooperation, discussion, innovation and resilience. Everyone agreed that it was a great experience and we had lots of fun!
